At Heidelberg University, the First-Year Advisors of the Owen Center for Teaching & Learning build the Fall schedules for all incoming first-year students. Based on available system data and student responses to this survey, the First-Year Advisors will create an initial schedule appropriate for each student's career and educational goals. Our goal is to have a schedule built for each student prior to them attending their Orientation session. However, our ability to reach this goal depends on your input. In college, students are at the helm of their education. Academic Advisors serve as navigators, outlining the various paths so that students can choose the appropriate direction for themselves. The more an Advisor knows about a student's destination and desired pit stops, the better the Advisor can help. So, tell us about yourself and where you want to be so that we can help you get there!
We are asking for both your legal and preferred name. Your legal name is how we can locate your information in our system. However, we have plenty of students who have nicknames or new names they prefer to be addressed by. If you do not indicate a preferred name, we will default to your legal name.
Indicate your best contact number and email. We will be using these to connect with you if we have any questions prior to New Student Orientation.
To earn a Bachelor's Degree, students must complete the requirements for at least one major. However, you have the option to pursue multiple majors. Please indicate what you are currently intending to focus in - only the primary major requires an answer. Undecided? That's fine! Go ahead and select that option from the drop-down menu. Plenty of students aren't 100% sure of what they want to focus in, so it's ok to explore some options before making your decision.
