DEI Scholarship App

The Heidelberg Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship supports students who demonstrate commitment to global citizenship through knowledge, creative and critical thinking skills, awareness of their own cultures and appreciation of other cultures, the quest for purpose, integrity, spiritual growth, and engagement with the community.

This application will remain open until March 15th, with recipients being notified of their award late March.

To be considered for this scholarship, all students must answer the prompt below. You may provide your answer by submitting an essay (minimum 500 words), video, or sound recording.

Prompt: "Diversity is a fact. Equity is a choice. Inclusion is an action. Belonging is an outcome." is a quote by Arthur Chan. Your essay should answer the following questions as they pertain to this quote.

Diversity
- Tell us how you’ve experienced or witnessed diversity in your life, OR
- What did you learn from surrounding yourself with individuals who hold a variety of values, identities, or experiences?
Equity. Whereas equity means that each individual or group of people are given the exact same resources or opportunities, equity recognizes that each of us comes from different circumstances and require different resources to reach equal outcome or success.
- Please describe efforts you’ve taken in your community (hometown, school, workplace, etc.) to further social equity. Be specific in describing the action(s) you took, the reason for the action, and the outcome of your effort.
Inclusion
- Please describe efforts you’ve taken in your community (hometown, school, workplace, etc.) to be inclusive. Be specific in describing the action(s) you took, the reason for the action, and the outcome of your effort.
